I got this opportunity to work as a Software Developer Intern in the New York City Department of Environmental Protection. Over there, I advanced my technical skills as well as learned different new skills. I was responsible for working on a web application, handling bugs, adding new features to the application, and attending meetings with the Stakeholders to discuss the progress. Before that, I worked as a peer mentor at Urban Male Leadership Academy. I was responsible for assisting my peer mentees with their test and term paper preparations, improving their study skills, note-taking and critical thinking, formulating plans to work towards their goals and connecting them to various college resources. During that time, it also helped me to improve my own study skills. I also worked as a Secretary in the Honors Society of Black Student Scholars. In that position, I arranged meetings, planned trips to cultural institutions and recreational activities and workshops. Before that I was an Ambassador of the same program where I recruited students to the program.
